13 September LorCI’s WIC Committee Sponsored Back to School Drive Sets Record September 13, 2017 By ODRC Institutions, Lorain Correctional Institution (LorCI) LorCI, Women in Corrections, Back to School, Lorain Community College 0 The LorCI Women in Corrections committee met earlier this summer to discuss the yearly back to school drive. Committee member Donna Pletcher suggested making it a competition amongst all staff to try to get more participation. She then developed clues, that she emailed and posted on the control center television, to really ramp up the event the week leading up to the competition. Staff were divided into 12 teams with custody staff vying against their own shifts. The winners of the Back to School Drive competition will receive a pizza party sponsored by WIC, a photo opportunity, bragging rights and an article to be submitted to OSC for posting on the local website. Marty Eggleston from Lorain Community College came and audited the top team and the undeniable winner of the non-custody competition was the Medical Suppliers team comprised of the medical department with a total of 1,588 items. The custody winner was the Small but Mighty Team comprised of 3rd shift and special duty with a total of 697 items. Due to the overwhelming response and generous hearts of LorCI staff, a total of 5,233 items were collected for this drive. These supplies were donated to three recipients, Palm Elementary, Midview Elementary and the Lorain County Children Services. A huge THANK YOU goes out to all staff that participated!!
